Summer Exhibition at Agora Gallery

Agora Gallery's popular Summer Exhibition includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, prints and photography by some of Stratford's finest artists, including: Marion Anderson, Susan Benson, Patsy Berton, Linda Brine, Tom Campbell, Allan Davey, Mary Anne Dente, Scott Fillier, Renata Fitzgerald, Luc Forsyth, Kathryn Friis, Jacob Grodzinski, Antony John, Paul Johnston, Gloria Kagawa, Chris Klein, Antonie Los, Tanya Lyons, Terry Manzo, John Pennoyer, Kathi Posliff, Stacey Stuart, Elizabeth Van Den Broeck, Lesley Walker-Fitzpatrick and more. The exhibition will evolve throughout the summer: as pieces are sold, new artworks will be put on display, so visit often to see more work by your favourite Stratford artists.

Market Square Series: Shallaway Youth Choir - Stratford Summer Music

Market Square Series In 2019, Stratford Summer Music will offer free, inclusive, weekly, high-quality cultural, ‘shareable moments’ programming in Stratford’s Market Square called Market Square Series for the six-weeks of our festival. Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets.  Rain venue for all performances is at The Avondale.

Shallaway Youth Choir is an internationally recognized and celebrated organization that is dedicated to exploring, developing, and celebrating cultural expression through choral music. Shallaway aims to foster independent musicianship and leadership in their choristers to empower the next generation of artistic innovators in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through their commitment to artistic excellence, youth learn the value of independence, discipline, and confidence, while also gaining a sense of pride and identity as Newfoundlanders and Labaradorians.

Founded in 1992, Shallaway Youth Choir is a highly-accomplished youth organization that expresses itself through choral music. Over the years, Shallaway has achieved both artistic and cultural acclaim and is now recognized as one of the world’s finest choirs. Not only has Shallaway placed first in several national and international competitions, but has also received numerous invitations to perform around the province, the country, and the world.

The choir actively seeks out new ways to connect with other cultures in a progressive way.  Steeped in the rich musical traditions of Newfoundland, Labrador and Canada, Shallaway has embraced the music of other cultures, with some 41 languages in our current repertoire. They continue to develop a dynamic program of intercultural outreach and exchange which has built cultural bridges throughout Canada, North and South America, Britain, Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia.

Please note, the rain venue for all Market Square events will be the Avondale, 194 Avondale Avenue.

Juliet III Cruise Boat Tours

The Tour Boat, running every half hour, is a great way to spend the afternoon on the River. 

There have been a few tour boats over the years spanning from the mid 1800's up to today. Officially their has been the Juliet I, II, and now III, but predating this there has also been a Juliet tour Boat back in the mid 1800's as pictured below. Countless tours have taken place over the years and proudly for more than 50 years the Herr family has carried on this tradition. Come enjoy a relaxing ride down the river and discover why this has been a tradition for many year and many more to come.

Open Kitchen | 2019 Summer Explorer Course

Explore the culinary world during this one-week course that offers participants a sneak peek into the Stratford Chefs School's renowned professional culinary program. This hands-on intensive program with instructor Eli Silverthorne is perfect for the home cook wanting to develop their skills to a more professional level, or for anyone curious about examining a career in the culinary arts.

Successfully apply to the Stratford Chefs School after completing the Summer Explorer Course and have the $400 cost applied towards the Preparatory Course.

Safety regulations require students wear closed toe shoes when participating in any cooking class.

This class has a maximum capacity of 14 students.

This class is open to anyone who is 16+ years of age.

Participants will be provided with an apron and all necessary tools and equipment.

Menus, recipes and instructors are subject to change as required.

If you need to cancel, it is possible to get a refund (less the service fee) up to 7 days before the start date of the course via your universe.com account. A credit note may be issued for cancellations received by email (admin@stratfordchef.com) a minimum of 48 hours before the event.
