Ideas: Marx and After

The Disrupters
In partnership with CBC Radio’s Ideas, a five-part series that explores the roots of modern identity through the ideas of five people who flipped the table of conventional thought.

Marx and After
What’s the value of a unit of work, and who decides? What’s the ultimate legitimacy around owning a piece of land? Marx threw out questions that seemed to invite answers that would make the world a more equitable place, but that little experiment didn’t work out too well. Is there another way that Marx’s ideas might work in practice? Democratic Socialism says yes.

Panellists:
Sheila Copps, former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada
Arne Kislenko, Associate Professor of History, Ryerson University
Rick Salutin, Toronto Star current affairs columnist
