Ideas: Darwin and After

The Disrupters
In partnership with CBC Radio’s Ideas, a five-part series that explores the roots of modern identity through the ideas of five people who flipped the table of conventional thought.

Darwin and After
Darwin’s ideas about evolution shifted our perspective on the place of humans in the world: we’re not so special, just another life form with a bigger brain and opposable thumbs. What’s been the impact of this depressing news?

Panellists:
Maydianne Andrade, Canada Research Chair in Integrative Behavioural Ecology at the University of Toronto
Adam Gopnik, New Yorker staff writer and author of books including, most recently, a defence of liberalism: A Thousand Small Sanities
Ivan Semeniuk, science reporter for The Globe and Mail and former news editor of the journal Nature

Get your books signed! Adam Gopnik will sign copies of his works following the event. We’ll have copies available for purchase, or you are welcome to bring your own.
